ModSeed Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-18

These Terms of Service are the rules for using ModSeed. They are written in plain English on purpose, so that builders of every age can understand them. By creating an account, or by using the service at all, you agree to these Terms. ModSeed is operated by Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios, based in Wyoming, USA. If anything here is unclear, email support@modseed.com and a real person will answer.

1. What the service is (and what it is not)

ModSeed is a visual builder for Minecraft add-ons. Instead of writing code, you drag items, blocks, entities and other pieces onto a canvas, connect them, draw pixel-art textures, and we turn your graph into a real, ready-to-install Bedrock .mcaddon file (with a resource pack). Java Edition datapack support is in development and will be announced when it ships.

Everything you make on ModSeed is created with our visual editor. There are no file uploads and no manual code editing: this is a deliberate design choice that keeps the service safe and affordable, and it means every project on our servers was built with tools we control. It also means everything in your workspace is a creation made through our service for the purposes of these Terms.

We also host your work. Your projects live on our servers, and you can export (download) them whenever you like, within the monthly download limits described later in these Terms. These Terms apply to the whole service: the website, the builder, your hosted projects, the pixel art editor, the 3D model and animation studio, the notepad, the live collaboration feature, the AI assistant tools, and every file you export.

Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. ModSeed is not associated with, or approved by Mojang or Microsoft, and it is not a Mojang or Microsoft product. ModSeed is also not affiliated with PlayForge. It is an independent project operated by Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios, Wyoming, USA.

2. Who can use it

ModSeed is open to builders of all ages. If you are under 18, you may use the service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

If you are under 13, United States law (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA) requires verifiable parental consent before you may create an account. That means a parent or guardian must actually confirm that they agree. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child signed up without your consent, email support@modseed.com and we will remove the account.

3. License to your creations

Your creations are yours. You keep ownership of every add-on, texture, node graph and other work you build with ModSeed, and you may export and use your creations however you like, including in ways that make you money.

In exchange for hosting, building, converting and improving the service, you grant ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios a royalty-free, irrevocable, worldwide, and perpetual license to copy, store, redistribute, modify, host, publicly display, and use your creations and any part of them — including code, textures, and other assets — for the operation, improvement and promotion of the service. This includes the right to show your work as an example or in marketing for ModSeed.

This license is irrevocable and survives account deletion, project deletion, subscription cancellation, and any termination or ban of your account. If you delete your account or we terminate it, we may keep using creations you made while your account was active, even though your personal data is removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

To be clear about what this is not: it is not a transfer of ownership, and it is not exclusivity. You are free to use your creations anywhere else, with anyone else, at any time. It simply allows us to run, back up, and promote the service without needing to ask each builder for individual permission.

4. Plans and subscriptions

ModSeed is free to start. The Free plan includes one project (up to 50 KB) and 5 exports per 30-day window, and projects inactive for 7 days may be cleaned up.

ModSeed Pro is a subscription at $9.99 per month. It raises your limits: up to 50 projects, 10 MB of included storage (expandable with $2.49 storage packs up to 110 MB total), 250 exports per 30-day window, and access to the Pro node collection in the editor.

ModSeed Ultra is a subscription at $24.99 per month. It includes everything in Pro plus: unlimited exports, 50 MB of included storage (expandable with $4.99 storage packs up to 250 MB total), up to 100 projects, the Ultra-only node collection (including the 3D model and animation studio), experimental feature toggles for your projects, one-click conversion of your workspace between Bedrock and Java Edition (in development — available once it ships), the idea lightbulb, the bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI assistant, and live collaboration for up to 15 people. Ultra requires cancelling any active Pro subscription first — plans never stack. The same rule applies in reverse: to move from Ultra back to Pro, cancel Ultra first and then subscribe to Pro again; plans never stack in either direction.

ModSeed for Creators is a one-time purchase at $7.99 for Pro and Ultra subscribers. Pay once and the cinematic node collection (cameras, screen fades, cinematic titles and more) is yours to use while you stay on Pro or Ultra — there is no renewal and no monthly charge.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You may cancel any time; you keep access until the end of the paid period, and afterwards every project stays downloadable for a 30-day grace window. After the grace window, paid-plan projects are removed and one free-plan project remains. One-time purchases (storage packs, branding removal) are permanent while your account exists.

5. Download limits and credits

Every export of your project counts against a rolling 30-day download window. The Free plan includes 5 exports per window; Pro includes 250 per window; Ultra is unlimited.

Pro subscribers may purchase download credit packs: 50 extra downloads for $5.20. Credits are separate from your monthly window and can be spent any time while you are on Pro — including after you have used your monthly exports, and during the 30-day grace window after cancelling. You may bank up to 200 credits at once.

Important: if you upgrade to Ultra, any banked download credits you still have are forfeited — Ultra already includes unlimited downloads, and forfeited credits are not refunded, credited, or carried anywhere. This is the deal you accept when you choose Ultra.

We set download limits because exporting builds and moves files across our infrastructure, which costs us real money. The limits exist to keep the service available and fast for everyone.

6. Live collaboration

Pro and Ultra subscribers can turn on live collaboration for a project: several builders, artists and animators work in the same workspace at the same time, with changes appearing for everyone instantly — like a shared document. Pro includes up to 3 people per workspace (including you) and Ultra up to 15.

Live collaboration is limited to builders who are 13 or older. Before the feature can be turned on or joined, we ask each person to confirm with a checkbox that they are 13 or older, and we keep a record of that confirmation. This keeps the feature on the right side of children's privacy law.

You invite collaborators by username, and only the project owner can invite or remove people. Everything your collaborators edit in your shared workspace is governed by these Terms exactly as if you edited it yourself: the owner is responsible for managing their workspace, and creations made in it are licensed to us under Section 3 like any other creation. If a collaborator misbehaves, remove them — and if an account is banned under Section 8, they lose access to every workspace, including yours.

Collaboration needs each person's browser to exchange live editing messages with our realtime service. Those messages contain project content (nodes, positions and settings) — never your password or billing data.

7. Refunds

All purchases on ModSeed are digital goods delivered immediately: subscriptions, storage packs, download credit packs, branding removal, and the Creators add-on. Because the goods are delivered instantly and cannot be returned, all purchases are final and non-refundable.

Cancelling a subscription stops future billing only. You keep access until the end of the paid period, and no partial refund is issued for unused time.

If you believe you were charged in error, email support@modseed.com before contacting your bank. A payment chargeback against us is treated as a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate termination of your account under Section 8.

8. Termination and bans

We may suspend or permanently ban your account if you violate these Terms — for example by committing payment fraud or chargebacks, misrepresenting your age in a way that breaks the law, attacking or overloading our service, bypassing plan limits, or using the AI tools to generate harmful or malicious content.

If your account is banned: you lose access to the service and to all of your hosted projects, you lose all purchases (subscriptions, storage packs, branding removal, download credits, and the Creators add-on), and any active subscription is cancelled immediately. We cancel subscriptions directly through our payment processor's cancellation API the moment the ban is issued, so you are never billed for a banned account — but no refund is issued for the current period.

Bans are a last resort. If you believe your account was banned by mistake, email support@modseed.com with your username and we will review it.

You may also delete your account yourself at any time from the account settings. Deleting your account requires an active subscription to be cancelled first, so you are never charged for a deleted account.

9. Your code, your data, and the risk of loss

ModSeed is a creative tool, not a vault. We are not responsible for lost code, lost projects, lost textures, or any other lost work, no matter the cause.

We operate on managed databases, and while we take reasonable care, no system is bulletproof: in the case of a database failure, corruption, or other catastrophic event, everything might be lost. We strongly encourage you to export your projects regularly and keep your own copies — every export is a complete, installable file that works without us.

If a catastrophic loss ever happens, you may contact support at support@modseed.com and we will cancel your subscriptions. Beyond that, our total liability to you is limited as described in Section 13.

10. The AI assistant and the idea lightbulb

Ultra subscribers may connect a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI assistant: you provide your own API key and model name for any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and the assistant can help build your project directly in the editor — including placing new nodes for you, moving and wiring existing nodes, changing settings, and giving you step-by-step instructions for drawing pixel-art textures. Your key is encrypted at rest and is never shown to anyone — including us — in readable form after you save it.

The assistant operates under your instructions, at your responsibility, and on your billing with your provider. What it writes is licensed to us exactly like your other creations (Section 3). You must not use the assistant to create malware, viruses, or anything designed to harm computers or people — attempts to do so violate these Terms.

The idea lightbulb (also Ultra) generates a fresh mod idea each time you click it. Ideas are generated by our AI provider and are yours to use however you like.

AI output can be wrong. Test everything before you rely on it, and remember that assistant-written content counts as your creation under Section 3.

11. Fair use of the service

You may not circumvent (get around) the numerical limits of your plan — the monthly export counts, storage caps, project counts, collaboration seats, or banked credits — or share one paid subscription between multiple people. You may not scrape the service, overload it, attack it, or run automated tools against our servers beyond what a normal browser does.

You may not use the service to build anything that is itself illegal — for example content designed to damage computers, steal data, or harass people. Your projects are private to your account, but we may still act on clear evidence of abuse. In shared workspaces, do not use collaboration to bother, spam or harass other builders; the owner can remove you at any time and we can ban accounts under Section 8.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exports will work with every version of Minecraft. Game updates can break add-ons, and compatibility is not guaranteed.

ModSeed is not associated with, or approved by Mojang or Microsoft. Using ModSeed does not give you any rights to Minecraft beyond what Mojang's own Minecraft EULA and Usage Guidelines already grant you, and you must follow both, which you accepted during sign-up.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost work, arising from your use of the service.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service grows. The "last updated" date at the top always shows the current version, and changes will be announced in the app.

For changes that materially reduce what you get (for example a price increase, a lower limit, or removing a feature you paid for), we will ask you to accept the updated Terms — for example with a notice you must agree to the next time you sign in — before the change applies to your account. If you do not accept, you may cancel any subscriptions and delete your account, and no further billing occurs.

For routine changes (new features, clarifications, fixes), the updated Terms simply take effect when announced, and continuing to use ModSeed means you accept them.

15. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Wyoming, or as required by mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.

Questions about these Terms: legal@modseed.com. Help and account questions: support@modseed.com.

16. Severability

If a court or authority finds any part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, that part will be changed to the minimum extent needed to make it valid — or, if that is impossible, removed — and the rest of the Terms remain fully in force between you and us.

Removing one rule never cancels the others. In particular, the license you granted in Section 3 and the refund terms in Section 7 survive independently.

17. Entire agreement

These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy, the Minecraft EULA notice, and any plan details shown on the pricing page at the time you subscribe) are the entire agreement between you and ModSeed about the service. They replace anything earlier — promises, chats, emails, or older versions of these Terms.

If a plan description on our pricing page and these Terms ever disagree, the Terms win — except where the pricing page gave you MORE than the Terms promise; in that case you keep the more generous version.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and us, and nothing said by any other user binds us.
