Questions?
The honest answers, in plain English.
What is ModSeed?
ModSeed is a free visual mod builder for Minecraft. Drag, drop and connect nodes, then export a ready-to-install Bedrock .mcaddon. Java Edition support is in development and coming soon. It exists as a heartfelt apology for the indefinite PlayForge delay — we promised you a better way to build, and this time we’re delivering.
Is it free?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 1 project (up to 50 KB) and 5 exports per rolling 30-day window — plenty for a first mod. Projects inactive for 7 days may be cleaned up. Pro and Ultra raise the limits when you’re ready.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Everything is built visually — nodes, forms and the pixel art editor. There are no file uploads and no manual code editing, which also keeps every export valid and kid-safe by design.
Is it kid-safe?
Yes. ModSeed is built for all ages. Under US law (COPPA), builders under 13 need a parent or guardian to sign up with them. There are no file uploads, no manual code editing and no chat with strangers — and live collaboration requires a 13-or-older checkbox before it can be turned on.
How do download limits work?
Every export of a project zip counts as one download against a rolling 30-day window. Free includes 5 per window, Pro includes 250 (plus credit packs: +50 for $5.20, banked up to 200), and Ultra is unlimited. The window starts with your first export and resets 30 days later.
Ultra vs Pro — which should I pick?
Ultra includes everything Pro has, plus unlimited exports, the 3D model & animation studio, experimental toggles, one-click Java ↔ Bedrock conversion (in development), the BYOK AI assistant, the idea lightbulb and collaboration for up to 15 builders.
Plans never stack: cancel Pro first, then subscribe to Ultra. Banked download credits are forfeited when you move to Ultra — they are not refunded or carried anywhere, because Ultra already includes unlimited downloads.
What’s ModSeed for Creators?
Creators is a one-time $7.99 purchase for Pro and Ultra subscribers. It unlocks the cinematic node collection — cameras, screen fades, cinematic titles and more. Pay once, keep it while you stay on Pro or Ultra. There is no renewal and no monthly charge.
Can I build with friends?
Yes — live collaboration lets several builders work in the same workspace at the same time, with changes appearing for everyone instantly. Pro includes up to 3 people per workspace (including you) and Ultra up to 15. Everyone confirms they are 13 or older with a checkbox before the feature unlocks, you invite people by username, and only the project owner can invite or remove them.
Does it work for Java and Bedrock?
Bedrock works today: export your graph as a .mcaddon with its resource pack. Java Edition datapacks and the one-click edition converter are in development and will be announced when they ship.
Is this an official Minecraft product?
No.
